The longest tunnel in the country is the 1.5 km Piet Heintunnel under the water between Sporenburg and Borneo. It links the Eastern Harbour District to Ijburg, a huge new housing project under construction on a string of artificial islands. Two of these islands are linked by the stunning Enneus Heerma Brug, a futuristic steel construction called by locals the Dolly Parton Bridge.
